Detox Diet For A Healthier You

Detox Diet For A Healthier You

There are many types of diets to choose from, so what’s the fad about detox diets? First of all, detox is short for detoxification. The goal is to detoxify, or clean out your body. That’s why you will also hear about “cleanse” diets, which mean pretty much the same thing.

Detox Diets and Weight Loss – When you hear the word “diet” you usually assume that it’s a weight loss plan. There’s nothing wrong with this, as many people have this goal. Indeed, if you are overweight this is something you should be focused on for health reasons.

Detox diets, however, are not necessarily about losing weight. Even when you do want to shed some pounds, a detox diet usually has broader goals as well. When you cleanse your body, you aren’t simply trying to get skinnier -you’re improving your health by getting rid of harmful toxins.

So people who are skinny, fat or somewhere in between can all benefit from a good detox diet. It should help to normalize your weight, but this is only one of the goals!

Energy and Well Being – Conventional diets don’t necessarily make you feel better. Some may actually drain your body of essential nutrients. Detox diets, however, are designed to make you feel better in every way.

One caveat is that there is sometimes a short period of time when you feel worse after starting a detox diet. That’s when your body is learning new habits. To put it bluntly, you may be addicted to certain unhealthy foods. In this case you may experience a type of withdrawal when you start eating healthier. This isn’t a bad thing, though it’s uncomfortable.

Youthful Complexion – Detox diets are good for your whole body, including your skin and hair. This makes them great for giving you a younger and healthier appearance. This isn’t to say that you can start a detox diet on Monday and look 20 years younger by Friday. If you stick with the diet for a while, this might happen though!

Emotional Benefits – When toxins are removed from your body, you feel better mentally and emotionally as well as physically. Unhealthy foods such as sweets and other junk foods tend to wreak havoc with your blood sugar and brain chemistry. So when you detoxify, you are less prone to mood swings and depression.

We aren’t saying that a detox diet is the cure for a serious emotional disorder such as clinical depression. It can, however, help balance out your emotions.

These are just some of the potential benefits of a detox diet. Before you go on one, however, you should do a little research. You want to find a program that’s right for you. Just because it has words like “detox” or “cleanse” in it doesn’t mean it’s great.

Fasting and Detoxing – There are different types of detox diet plans. Some are very short term, such as various types of fasts. These can help you cleanse your body every so often, but you should be careful if you’re not accustomed to fasting.

Start out with a short fast of no more than 2 or 3 days. Make sure you’re drinking plenty of fluids and not doing anything too strenuous. A juice fast is good for this, because you’re getting some healthy nutrients and not starving yourself.

You should not try to use fasting as part of a weight loss strategy. You will probably lose weight after fasting, but then you will gain it back again when you return to your normal diet. The objective of a fast is to clean out your body; the temporary loss of weight is only a byproduct of this.

If you attempt to use fasting as a weight loss tactic, you are moving in the direction of a starvation diet. This is not detoxing and it’s not healthy!

Long Term Detox Diets – I suggest having the goal of finding a moderate, long term detox diet. This means eating in a healthy yet reasonable manner -hopefully for the rest of your life! Rather than try to gain some dramatic results in a short time, think of this as part of a larger plan to transform your life.

I’m not saying that short term detox diets, including fasts, can’t be beneficial. Yet they aren’t going to help that much if you normally eat an unhealthy diet. In other words, you can’t binge most of the time and expect to make up for it by fasting or detoxing every so often!

Exercise and Lifestyle – Diet is only one aspect of a healthy lifestyle. While the focus of this article is on detox diets, you also can’t ignore the importance of exercise. Regular exercise if vital for good health, as more and more research indicates. Exercise is great for detoxifying your body, and this goes hand in hand with a healthy diet.

You don’t necessarily have to join a gym. You don’t need to engage in activities that you hate. All that’s necessary is to engage in regular physical activity. This can be walking, sports, hiking, riding a bike, swimming, playing tennis or anything that you like.

You should also get as much physical activity as possible in your normal, everyday life. Try to walk more and rely less on cars, elevators, escalators and so forth. When you have free time, get outside and so something rather than being a couch potato!

Rest and Releasing Stress – Sleep is another crucial factor in a healthy lifestyle. This is also important for detoxifying your body. If you don’t get enough rest, you are putting your body under stress, which is definitely not good for your health.

Speaking of stress, this is an often unrecognized source of toxins. We can even say that all toxins are a type of stress. Yet right now I’m talking about stress in the usual way -getting tense, upset or feeling negative emotions.

Eating a healthy diet, exercising and getting enough rest can help you feel more balanced and reduce stress. Yet if stress is a problem for you, it’s essential to take a close look at this and find a solution. You may have to change your outlook or the way you interact with others. If you cannot do this on your own, you should look into counseling of some kind.

Detoxifying Your Life – This has been a general overview of what detox diets can do for you. I haven’t tried to push any specific diet, but rather discussed why this type of diet is worth considering.

Hopefully, you will also understand that no diet on its own can transform your life. It’s certainly a step in the right direction, but you are really better off if you take steps to improve things in all areas of your life. That way, you will get the maximum benefits from a detox diet!

Here is a simple lemon detox diet – a recipe that really works!

Dance Your Calories Away With Aerobics

Dance Your Calories Away With Aerobics

Do you want to know the key to staying healthy and happy? There is an easy formula. All you need to do is indulge yourself in a regular physical activity and follow a balanced diet. One of the surefire ways to ensure fitness is aerobics. Get your aerobics shoes at best deal couponers. Termed as a long duration exercise of low, moderate to high intensity, aerobics makes use of the large muscle groups of the body such as legs, back, arms etc. These include walking, swimming, cycling, dancing, workout on treadmill and rowing machine. The duration of such exercise may extend from 20 minutes to one hour. You can do aerobic activities, regardless of your age.

Dance aerobics is an exercise that combines the rhythmic steps of aerobics with graceful dance movements. It can be broadly divided into four types – high-impact exercises, low-impact exercises, step aerobics and water aerobics. High impact exercises involve intense jumping actions that are synchronized with the rhythmic beats of the music being played. Low impact exercises, the second type of dance aerobics, involves less jumping action, but more of footwork, which are coordinated with the rhythm of the music being played. Step aerobics is performed in a raised platform, while water aerobics is done in waist-deep water.

Typically, a dance aerobic exercise is performed for about 20-30 minutes. Prior to proceeding with the aerobic workout, getting warmed-up is very important. It usually lasts for 10 to 15 minutes. The steps are performed in a rhythmic way, with 4 or 8 counts. Avail of best deal couponers upto 40% OFF on select Adidas products. Dance aerobics is a fun activity that helps in strengthening your body, and gives you energy to carry out your day-to-day activities effectively and efficiently. This type of aerobic workout is a fantastic method to lose weight and at the same time, tone body muscles. Aerobic exercises like jogging, cycling, cardio boxing involve the swift movement of legs.

Just like other exercises, aerobic dance increases the circulation of the blood, decreases the levels of blood sugar and cholesterol. Because aerobic dancing incorporates proper breathing exercises, far more oxygen is circulated in the heart, lungs and blood vessels which makes the body function better and increase overall energy and stamina. The physical benefits also include a tougher immune system preparing the body against colds, flu and many other illnesses.

Aerobic dancing can also be a terrific way to deal with stress. If you are unable to leave the home to go to a gym, you could perform the aerobic exercises at home, master the moves and select your own tune.

While doing such exercises, you need to wear a comfortable pair of shoes, so that you perform the activities correctly, without putting strain on your body parts. The market is virtually flooded with innumerable varieties of shoes, specially designed for performing aerobic exercises. However, not all varieties and brands may be suitable for you. If you are a bit confused about the right choice of aerobic shoes for you, this article will be handy.

Remember, you cannot purchase the same shoe for performing all kinds of aerobic activities, even though they involve the fast movement of your legs. It is suggested to buy aerobic shoes that are specially designed for the particular activity. Comfort matters a lot, when it comes to fitting in a pair of shoes. Loose fitting shoes are strict no-no for aerobic activities. In addition, your footwear should not be slippery and should provide you enough grip, especially when you are cycling, jogging or performing similar aerobic activities.

The thickness of socks is decisive in determining the size of your shoes. Therefore, while measuring your shoe size, make sure that you wear the pair of socks that you would wear during the performance of the aerobic exercise. Wear the shoes and roam about for a while to ensure that it is fit and comfortable for you. A good pair of aerobic shoes is characterized by superior shock absorption and good level of cushioning. Make sure that your shoes satisfy both the conditions.

Yoga and weight loss combined together can be influential in altering your health and wellness. Yoga has become the new wave of exercise for men and women across the country. Not only is yoga praised for its physical rigors, it promotes mental and spiritual practices. Yoga is considered a meditative experience, as you perform different variations of movements designed to challenge your strength and flexibility.

Many people have turned to yoga as their primary exercise routines, because of the many different workouts it gives the body that can be done simultaneously. It should not be surprising that a lot of people have started to associate yoga and weight loss together, as yoga movements can help jump start your need to lose weight.

Yoga and weight loss should become synonymous, as testimonials of those who have started yoga attest to the success of their weight loss that they attribute to the exercise art form. Yoga is becoming so popular because it is relatively easy to start. Yoga does not require a gym pass, you do not have to lift weights repeatedly to get the results you want, it is relatively injury free, and you do not have to perform countless hours of cardio work to lose weight.

In fact, your body can remain sedentary and not move from one area the whole time you are performing yoga. Different levels of yoga exist, so the novice yoga practitioner can start easy and perform certain movements that will get their body used to poses that challenge their strength and flexibility, and after time, move up to more difficult levels to even further challenge their muscle resistance and ability to stretch.

So many people turn to numerous different ways to lose weight, with results often disappointing them. From extreme dieting, to hardcore workouts, people usually try to incorporate both at the same time. What often happens is those people become mentally and physically exhausted trying to lose weight that it has an adverse effect, meaning that people become so frustrated and angry towards their routine they quit altogether and begin binge eating.

There is nothing extreme about yoga, unless you find yourself graduating to the much more advanced levels. That is what makes yoga so great, is the different levels and variations of the poses, challenging you to perfect each movement one at a time. As you accomplish each movement, you are also strengthening your mind because yoga challenges you to concentrate on the pose, forcing you to work out mentally as much as physically. With so much to gain from performing yoga poses, it is obvious to see why yoga and weight loss go hand-in hand.

If you are new to the idea of yoga and weight loss, you can find a ton of literature online or at yoga centers that are frequently opening up due to its increased popularity. If you are a man wanting to lose weight, do not dismiss yoga as merely a workout for women, as you will find the poses more challenging and supplying better results than most body building machines and free weights can provide.

Yoga is a discipline for men and women of all ages, and you are sure to be satisfied with the workout it delivers. If you have wanted to alter your lifestyle for the better, you will be impressed how yoga and weight loss will change your life.

Overweight is one of the most devastating problems affecting people today. If you are one of them and want immediate relief go right now to Yoga and Weight Loss and get the life changing information that will get you back to the life you deserve

Weight Loss Tips To Hack Your Fat Away

Weight Loss Tips To Hack Your Fat Away

I just came across an excellent article on 5 Tips For Weight Loss

By Hilda Maria

You may share this article or leave a comment and let me know what you think about this.

Are you ready to lose some weight? Perhaps you’re surfing for the magic pill that will vanish your weight away. Maybe you’re simply searching for the right information to help you lose and keep the weight off. Whatever the case, here’s some surefire tips to help you with your weight loss.

1. Do your homework. As you start your weight loss plan, take the time to carefully evaluate your situation. What caused the weight gain? Pregnancy? Inactivity? Overeating and binging? Emotions? There are many triggers in our lives that will cause us to gain weight. Some can be prevented or eliminated, some can’t. It’s important as you begin your weight loss to understand and come to grips with the cause of your weight. Be honest with yourself. Don’t cheat on this one. Obviously, you want to have your weight loss become permanent.

In order to keep off the weight in the future, you may have to make some lifestyle changes to stay slim. Don’t give up before you start. There’s usually more than one solution to any weight gain reason. Just remain open-minded, and be willing to change to get the results you desire. Don’t hesitate to read and learn as much as you can about weight gain. It’s really easy to understand, and you may be surprised at what you learn.

2. Avoid Hidden Calories. Here’s an over simplified version of weight loss and weight maintenance… if you eat more than your body needs, you gain weight. If you eat less (reduce calories) than your body needs, you lose weight! While it sounds simple enough, just eat less ….Right? Basically that’s true. Yet, there are other things that come into play as one is trying to lose weight. One common mistake many people make as they diet is the fact they don’t really understand how much is provided by the food they are eating. This is especially true with eating out and eating snack foods and beverages.

A serving as defined by the scientific communities on weight loss and a serving that your local restaurant provides is most often very different. For example, one serving of bread is typically one slice. Yet, the average bun in a fast food restaurant is actually almost three servings. A single serving of French fries is 15 fries. Just take a guess at how many servings are in a “Biggie” French fry container.

Also, don’t be fooled into thinking just because a bag of popcorn is small, that it’s a single serving. The same thing goes for beverages. The bottle may contain16 oz. Yet, the serving size may be 4 ounces. Pay attention to actually how many servings of food and beverages you are actually consuming. The amount may surprise you.

I’ll give you an example, my son-in-law who’s 28 was had put on several pounds. His favorite cola is Mountain Dew. Mountain Dew has higher sugar content than most other cola’s. He didn’t have a clue as to how may calories he was consuming by drinking 3 or 4 24 oz bottles a day. When my daughter told him, he was amazed. He replaced the cola with water and went from a 38″ waist to a 34″ waist in about two months. Be careful, you may be consuming more than you think.

The 3 Week Diet

3. Consider Diet Pills Carefully. Maybe one of your diet buddies has decided to buy diet pills, or maybe you’ve seen or heard a commercial for diet supplements promising easy fast weight loss. If so, please evaluate CAREFULLY! Even the most natural-sounding diet pills or weight loss supplements can be useless for weight loss, or dangerous, or both. Diet pills are very tempting things if you want to lose weight, especially if you have tried several conventional weight loss plans without success. The side effects and dangers of some diet and weight loss pills can vary enormously because many of these pills contain a cocktail of ingredients and because dosage instructions may be inadequate. Possible side effects include: nervousness, tremor, diarrhea, bulging eyes, racing heartbeat, elevated blood pressure even heart failure.

There are some instances when diet pills can be helpful. Usually these are indicated in the truly obese person. For the person wanting to lose 5 or 10 pounds, they usually aren’t necessary. So you may ask, how does the diet pills work to cause weight loss, while I continue to eat the same amount? In recent years, it seems everyone has the PERFECT answer to help with your weight loss. There are almost as many weight loss methods and diet pills available as there are people who want to lose weight.

There are diet pills that stop your hunger so you eat less and burn more fat. There are diet pills that cause the body not to metabolize all the food you eat, so it’s passed out of your system and not stored as fat. There’s combination of these two. As you begin your search for the perfect diet pill, be careful as some can have harmful effects on your body.

Diet Pills work by shifting levels of brain chemicals (neurotransmitters) that control satiety (fullness) and desire for food. Some also slightly increase your metabolic rate – the rate at which your body burns calories.

Examples of weight loss diet pills include:

Diethylpropion hydrochloride (eg. Tenuate)

Mazindol (eg. Mazanor, Sanorex)

Phendimetrazine tartrate (eg. Bontril)

Phentermine hydrochloride (eg. Adipex-P, Ionamin)

4. Monitor/Increase Your Activity – Regardless whether you’re taking diet pills or not to help with your weight loss, it’s still important to maintain a regular exercise program. This is beneficial not only for your weight loss, but also for your overall health. In many ways we in the developed country have a much more sedentary lifestyle than our bodies need. Obviously it’s easier for us than in the era when people had to be very active simply to survive, yet it’s not necessarily healthy for us not to be active. Start and maintain some sort of exercise plan no matter what your age. Especially for the middle-aged and older people exercise play a very, very important role in the quality of health and staying within normal weight ranges.

5. Develop a Plan for Maintenance. Even if you’re taking diet pills to help with your weight loss it’s important to keep in mind, that once you stop the pills, unless you maintain a balance between your activity level and the food you eat the weight will come back. While it may take some time to become accustomed to a change in diet and activity, the rewards are well worth the time and effort spent to reach and maintain a healthy weight.

Getting Fit With Aerobics

Getting Fit With Aerobics

Everybody knows that exercise is good; but just what form of exercise will benefit you most? Should you pick up the weights or go for a walk around the block? Ideally, you should do both-but just in case you can’t here are a few pointers why aerobics should be on the top of your to-do list.

Aerobic exercise is the key to cardio-respiratory fitness: your lung capacity, and your heart’s pumping power. Stamina is a reflection of lung capacity-how much air (oxygen) you can take in and out with each breath. This definitely improves with regular aerobic training.

Your heart also grows stronger, and functions better with aerobic conditioning; thus reducing the incidence of coronary heart disease and heart attacks. A stronger heart has less pumping to do. This fact causes your resting heart rate to be lower and this, in turn, reduces the resting blood pressure.

Here is an article by Peter Curtis on The Best Form Of Aerobic Activity. Peter Curtis is a personal fitness instructor in Denver, Colorado. He also writes for several fitness websites and his own website about Aerobic Activity. Leave a comment and let me know what you think.

The Best Form Of Aerobic Activity

By Peter Curtis

Aerobic activity is the best way of keeping fit and healthy. There are so many different forms the majority of which are free! Have you tried water aerobics or aqua aerobics? Maybe you prefer a more traditional aerobic exercise like step aerobics or dance aerobics. Don’t forget any kind of exercise which increases the heartbeat is an aerobic exercise, even fast walking but obviously some are more effective at increasing your aerobic fitness than others.

However should you find yourself sitting on your couch all the time and feeling emotionally uninspired, then maybe you should do something about it and start to exercise, if so try some aerobic activity to start with. This is a great choice of exercise for fitness to start with as it’s enjoyable and you can even encourage a friend or two to keep you company. You’ll be surprised how much fun it is and you’ll be getting aerobic exercise at the same time.

This type of activity uses the larger muscles which helps you maintain a fitter and healthy lifestyle. One small word of caution though before you pull on your trainers and get started with any aerobic activity. Make sure if you have any kind of medical issues that you check with your physician first. It’s always better to be safe than sorry and maybe damage your health. If your doc gives you the go ahead for aerobic exercise then check out the different types of exercise that will get your heart going as your heart performance is a vital part of aerobic activity. Maybe try water aerobics first as it is low intensive before trying step aerobics or dance aerobics which are a little more high intensive.

You’ll discover that there are a huge number of ways to exercise that you might have tried at one time or another, that are aerobic in nature. Cycling, walking, dance, swimming or even skating are popular forms of aerobic activity that large numbers use to get their muscles pumping, and their heart rate up. Always use a light warm up first and give your body and muscles a stretch. When you are finished have a warm down period too enabling you to stretch your muscles. Of course all of these activities can be done on your own but if you can find a friend to tag along all the better as not only are they company but you can motivate each other to maintain your aerobic activity.

Aerobic exercise will help you maintain an increased heart rate and help increase your breathing capacity too while providing exercise to your large muscles which combined will not only make you feel better but look better too. The benefits to your health provided by aerobic activity are numerous. Blood pressure is reduced, and the arteries and vessels all over your body are invigorated with oxygenated blood. Bad cholesterol is lowered, and your body becomes trimmed and toned due to the weight loss and your fitness will improve with aerobic activity. If you are at risk from diabetes , then an extra benefit of aerobic activity is that it can reduce your chances of getting it.

To get the most benefit from aerobic activity you should try to exercise at least 3 or 4 times a week. It is especially beneficial if you vary the types of aerobic exercise you use as performing different exercises ensures that all muscles are worked, and that you don’t get bored. When doing the exercise make sure to set up sets of all your different forms, and repeat them at least 7 times. Monitor your heart rate with an aerobic activity guideline based on your age and goals. You can get one from your doctor, or anywhere on the Internet.

In just a couple of months you’ll feel the difference that exercise makes to your life. Even so there is no need to rush, take your time and gradually build up the level of exercise. You will be amazed by how much better you look and feel once you start your aerobic activity.
